Equipment

  • torch

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon low-sugar strawberry preserves
  • 6 ounces plain fat-free yogurt
  • 1.5 tablespoons turbinado sugar or sugar in the raw
  • 1 sliced strawberry to top

Instructions

  • Place low-sugar strawberry preserves at the bottom of a 6 or 7 oz ramekin.
  • Combine plain fat-free yogurt with 1/2 tablespoon turbinado sugar, then add to the ramekin.
  • When ready to eat, top with the remaining turbinado sugar (make sure you are ready with the torch so the sugar doesn't dissolve).
  • Use a torch to melt the sugar and form a crispy top.
  • Cool for a few minutes then top with sliced strawberry. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Storage: For best results, store any leftover Healthy Creme Brulee without the caramelized sugar topping. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to three days.
  • Freezing: While it’s not recommended to freeze the entire dessert, you can freeze the yogurt mixture before caramelizing. Allow it to thaw and then torch the sugar for freshness.
  • Pairing: This dessert pairs beautifully with a cup of herbal tea or a light dessert wine, enhancing the dining experience.
  • Seasonal Fruits: Feel free to experiment with different fruits for the preserves. Blueberries or raspberries can offer a delightful twist!
  • Adding Spices: For a unique flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the yogurt mixture before layering.
