Equipment

  • Frying Pan
  • Chef's Knife
  • Wooden Spoon

Ingredients

  • 10 medium kiwis
  • 1 medium pomegranate
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • 1 medium apple
  • mint leaves for garnish
  • 2 cups red grapes
  • 2 cups green grapes
  • 1/2 cup sugar divided
  • 1/4 cup water

Instructions

  • Start by preparing a sugar syrup. In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water. Stir continuously over medium heat until the sugar melts completely, and the liquid appears clear. This should take about three minutes. Once it's ready, set it aside to cool to room temperature.
  • While the syrup cools, take your grapes. Add them in batches to the cooled sugar water. Using a slotted spoon, carefully remove the grapes and place them onto a wired rack set over a sheet tray. It's important to make sure the grapes aren’t touching to allow them to dry properly. Let them sit for thirty minutes to ensure they’re coated well.
  • Next, take the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and pour it onto a plate or a wide bowl. Roll each of the dried grapes in the sugar until they’re fully coated. Repeat this process until all the grapes are covered. After coating, let them chill in the fridge for another thirty minutes.
  • While the grapes are cooling, it’s time to prepare the rest of your fruits. Slice the kiwis into rounds. Arrange them in a single layer in a circular pattern on a large round serving tray. This will form the base of your fruit tray and create a beautiful backdrop for the other fruits.
  • Next, take the apple. Slice it into thin rounds and use a small star-shaped cutter to create star shapes. These adorable pieces will add a whimsical touch to your Christmas Fruit Tray.
  • Now, it’s time to deseed the pomegranate. Carefully remove the arils and set them aside in a small bowl. These jewel-like seeds will add a delightful burst of flavor and an eye-catching aspect to your tray.
  • After the grapes have chilled, begin assembling the fruit tray. Start by placing the coated grapes on top of the arranged kiwis. Add the raspberries and sprinkle the pomegranate arils over the grapes. This layering not only enhances the visual appeal but also balances the flavors.
  • Continue layering until all the fruits are used, making sure to balance out colors and shapes as you go. Finally, finish the tray by adding the apple stars on top, creating an inviting and festive look.
  • Garnish your Christmas Fruit Tray with fresh mint leaves. Not only do they add a pop of green, but they also infuse a refreshing aroma. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy the vibrant flavors you’ve created!
