Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (Tobasco or sriracha)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Start by preparing your air fryer basket. Spray the bottom of the basket with cooking spray to prevent the wings from sticking. This step is vital for achieving that perfect crispy texture you desire.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients: chili powder, cumin powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. This blend will create a robust spice mix that will enhance the flavor of the wings.
  • Add your pat-dried chicken wings to the bowl and coat them well with the dry spice mix. Ensure that every wing is evenly coated, as this will ensure maximum flavor. Let the wings marinate for about 20 to 30 minutes. This step allows the flavors to penetrate the meat, making every bite delicious.
  • After marinating, place the chicken wings in the air fryer basket. Set the air fryer temperature to 380 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for 24 minutes. Make sure to flip the wings halfway through to ensure they cook evenly and achieve that perfect golden color.
  • Once the 24 minutes are up, increase the air fryer temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for an additional 6 minutes. This increase in temperature will help to crisp up the outer layer of the wings, giving them that irresistible crunch.
  • While the wings are in the air fryer, it's time to prepare the sweet and spicy sauce. In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine all the ingredients for the sauce, including honey, lime juice, hot sauce, butter, and Worcestershire sauce. Heat the mixture in the microwave for about 2 minutes, then whisk well to mix all the flavors together.
  • Once the chicken wings are done air frying, transfer them to a large bowl. Drizzle a few teaspoons of the prepared sweet and spicy hot sauce over the wings. Toss them gently to coat well in the sauce, ensuring each wing is covered in that sticky goodness.
  • Finally, serve your delicious Air Fryer Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings hot with a side of ranch dressing, garlic aioli, or blue cheese dressing. Enjoy the crispy, spicy wings that everyone will rave about!
